The Summer Sojourn Programme is a distinctive feature of the China Studies as well as the Global and China Studies Programme in which all students are required to spend five weeks at Tsinghua University in Beijing at the end of the Third Year. The programme includes seminars on topics related to current issues in China, which are given by renowned Chinese scholars and senior government officials, and field visits to places such as factories, farms, historical sites, government offices, and research institutions.

There are four major components of this summer programme:
1. Intensive Putonghua training
2. Seminars on hot topics related on contemporary China by famous Chinese scholars
3. Trips and visits to places of particular interest to the four concentrations
4. Research project under the supervision of Tsinghua teachers
