The 5th Young Scholars’ Conference on China Studies organized by The China Studies Programme, the Advanced Institute for Contemporary China Studies and the Institute of Creativity of HKBU was held from 18 to 19 December. Nearly 70 young scholars and researchers from around the world had the opportunity to explore and discuss the global perspectives on China Studies.
In the conference, it was a great honour for us to have Prof. CHAN Kam Wing, Department of Geography, The University of Washington and Prof. LIU Shouying, School of Economics, Renmin University of China to give us a keynote speech. Their topics are : “Urbanization with Chinese Characteristics: The Hukou System and Migration” and “The Structure and Changes of China's Land Institutions”.
A total of 21 panels were held and the topics included Ethnic Studies, Art Theories and Chinese Arts, History of Everyday Life in China, China Business and Management, Catholic Church and Chinese Science, Urban Studies and Studies on Chinese Classics, etc.
An Outstanding Paper Award was introduced in the Conference to encourage, commend and reward research papers for high quality, originality and significance. The Outstanding Paper Award was given to three excellent scholars:

The conference was co-organised by the School of Humanities and School of Social Sciences of Tsinghua University (Beijing), Asia-Pacific Cluster for Chinese Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Queensland (Australia), Institute of Taiwanese History of Academia Sinica (Taipei), and Asper School of Business of the University of Manitoba (Canada).
